Shop opening hours
These can vary considerably between region, city, town and type of shop.
Most shops open at 10am, close for siesta at 2pm and then re-open at 5.00pm until about 9pm. Most shops close on Sundays although many shops in coastal holiday resorts do open.

It is not the norm to barter in shops unless they are very small establishments but it is normal to barter on market stalls.

Spanish market

Most towns and cities have their own weekly market where you can purchase bargains as well as getting an insight into local crafts and produce. You will also find indoor markets, called mercados, permanent street markets and traveling open-air street markets that move from area to area.

Most large shops have English speaking staff, especially at customer service counters.
