Located in the beautiful Costa Dorada region of Catalonia, Salou is a popular holiday destination with British holidaymakers. The two main beaches are the Ponent Beach, Llevant Beach and Playa Llarga, all of which have fine golden sand, crystal clear waters and lifeguards in attendance for parents can have the reassurance that their children are safe while they relax on their sun-loungers. The facilities at the beaches are excellent with sun bed and parasol hire, beach bars, cafes, ice cream kiosks, showers and toilets. Llevant Beach offers something for all ages including a dedicated children’s playground, gym and volleyball court. The fine golden sandy beach of Playa Llarga gently slopes to the crystal clear Mediterranean Sea and is surrounded by a verdant pine forest which offers plenty of shade during the long hot sunny summer days. Water sports are in abundance at the resorts beaches, including jet-skiing, water-skiing, wind surfing, parasailing, sailing and banana boat rides.

Not to be missed on your holidays to Salou is a visit to Barcelona and to the traditional fishing port of Cambrils where you will find narrow cobbled streets, a bustling street market, a working harbour, long sandy beaches, medieval houses and amazing seafood restaurants. Salou enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate with the summer months of June to September seeing temperatures averaging 27C, often reaching highs of 29C in mid August. Summer nights are ideal for a relaxing evening walk as temperatures average a pleasant 18C. The summer days see around 10 hours of sunshine a day and very little rainfall. With average temperatures of 14C during the winter months, this an excellent time for enjoying outdoor activities but as night-time temperatures fall to around 7C you will need to remember to pack some warmer clothes for the evenings.
